Morae Academics

A Hillsdale College Curriculum School

At Morae Classical Schools, our academic program is rooted in the classical education tradition, designed to cultivate wisdom, virtue, and eloquence in our students. We offer a comprehensive curriculum that spans the Trivium—Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric—tailored to nurture critical thinking, articulate communication, and a deep appreciation for the rich tapestry of human knowledge. Our approach prepares students not only for academic success but also for meaningful contributions to their communities and the world at large. Morae Classical
Schools Curriculum

Morae Classical Schools follows Hillsdale College’s Barney Charter School Initiative Curriculum, and is one of the only Hybrid private schools to pass the BCSI’s strict standards for recognition as a “Hillsdale College BCSI Curriculum School.” This incredible curriculum will be delivered in a Hybrid model where some of the best teachers in the country will provide virtual instruction on the materials, and then engaging teachers will continue the conversations and make personal interactions with students.

Our curriculum is composed of time-tested materials, great books, and a classical approach of asking questions and engaging students where they are in their academic journeys. We believe in the search for the true, the good, and the beautiful, and our academic texts will utilize the great books. Although commentaries are important and provide amplification, Morae Classical Schools believes it is critical to read the original texts.

All students will utilize the same virtual lessons and academic texts, however, in-person teachers will draw on their classical training to challenge each child according to their learning levels. Classical educators are specially trained on how to use a well-timed question to challenge students with various learning levels within the same classroom. Morae Classical Schools can conduct a highly-effective learning process by hiring the best teachers possible and by keeping classrooms small, focused, and disciplined.

Why We Use the
Classic Learning Test

The CLT mission is: Classic Learning Test (CLT) exists to reconnect knowledge and virtue by providing meaningful assessments and connections to seekers of truth, goodness, and beauty.

What do we mean by “knowledge” and “virtue”? As far back as Plato, the goal of education was understood as developing both intellect and character in students. Its purpose was to help students become better human beings.
Standardized tests should reflect that same goal. They should leave students feeling inspired and enriched while equipping them to pursue their goals. That’s why our tests feature beautiful and meaningful content in addition to assessing timeless academic skills.

Morae Classical Schools will utilize the CLT for grades 5-12 and believes it will be one of the cornerstones of helping students find meaning in their work and assess their critical thinking skills.
